Dawne Raulet was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where she now resides with her two children.  She graduated from the University of Georgia, and after fifteen years as an institutional stockbroker, is now enjoying art and being a Mom.  

In her artist statement she writes,  “There was a defining moment when I knew that art would be an important part of my life going forward.  I was on a weekend retreat, trying to escape the stress of juggling a full time career and two infants at home.  I took a three hour watercolor session, and realized afterwards that for an entire two hour period I had been completely focused on that peaceful waterfall we were painting. I hadn't had a single extraneous thought!  It was then that art became my sanctuary and I've been obsessed with painting ever since.”

“I suppose I'm what you'd call a self taught artist, mainly because I have yet to  commit the time to formal art classes or training.  I began with watercolor, and from there moved to acrylics and into oils.  By experimenting in each medium,  I am slowly developing my personal styles and techniques, which sometimes  include a combination of mediums.”
